I would say they never took the bumper off when they fitted it as it needs to be removed to get at those two bolts, I have pulled my bumper off that many times to check mine !!!! Even with a hole drilled thru the plastic you can only get the socket onto one of the damn bolts. Mine has a Jeep logo on the tally plate. But they will probably fob you off.

This is the name plate on my Genuine Jeep tow bar even has the Jeep plastic thing around the hitch. I don't know how many variations there are but a dealer could fit one they got from a tow bar shop, would need the paperwork I think.

Update.
Not having any luck with the original owner finding his paperwork for the bar being fitted by Jeep so tht avenue is seemingly gone.
I had my car at the engineer workshop across the road from where I work - they do all the repairs on our trucks and hook bins, etc - and left it there so all of the workers could look over it through the day and come up with a plan of attack. Theye are all too worried about potential liability issues that may arrive so none of them want anything to do with it!!! So it seems I'm back to square one again. The only place who has suggested they would entertain the job was a well known smash repairer in Mackay who has suggested at least $2500 or more plus costs to have it certified afterwards.
Hey Drover, it might be cheaper to get my car down to your guy, at least he would know what he had to do! Mackay probably has the highest ratio of engineer workshops per capita in Australia and none of them want to back their own work, unreal.
So..... it's back to the drawing board. boohoo

Update.
The original owner contacted me back. He has completed a much more extensive look through his archives and unfortunately was able to confirm that he had shredded about three months ago all paperwork that he had for this car. This really bummed me out but he was able to confirm that the car was purchased new from the Penrith dealership and that he had the towbar fitted prior to delivery so therefore all that info should be on record at the Penrith dealership. He was also able to confirm that this car was the fifth vehicle he had bought from them (all Mitsubishis previously) and he is happy not only for me to offer his name and details but will speak to them directly if they need any specific information.
So perhaps all hope is not quite lost yet.

On the "quotes to fix it" front, no further progress to report.

I will of course provide further updates as info/progress happens. Thanks for your continued interest.
