xj's are only old until you sort them out and make them new again

For now mine is still as stock as it gets, stripped down to almost nothing but two front seats and some rear carpet, awaiting the funds to patch the fred flintstone hole under the driver's feet, and to do SOME kind of paint job. Sadly I'm a full time carer for my terminally ill mum and money is forever tight. I make and sell reclaimed timber furniture on the side when possible though so I'm scrimping and saving bits of cash on the side for when the day comes. Think I'm going to have to do a roller paint job myself soon though, lots of surface rust on the roof and I need to deal with it before it turns into something nasty. Despite how rooted the paint is, after a 5 minute wash it still comes up looking nice!! God I love these boxy beauties.

I'd love to get in touch with some fellow XJ owners around the Sunshine Coast area! Got a lot of work to do on the Heep and some knowledgeable folks would be worth their weight in gold

Oh, and does anyone know where you'd go to find black Sunraysia rims in 15x7 with the correct 71.5mm center bore? I've searched everywhere online and they're all around 80mm or so.

Sorry to hear about your situation Sobek. I hope it all starts working out for you, as things eventually do.

As for the paint. Rollers are not the way to go and you won't be happy.
A very cheap alternative is Raptor paint. Look it up. You just give your XJ a bit of a rub and this stuff sprays on like shit to a blanket. No undercoat, hardly any prep. And its cheap. You can get it in black and can spray steel, plastic, everything. Looks good too. Plenty of YouTube videos on it.

I like DeBuffel's XJ. I think the only mistake he made is on the rear part of the rear Bushwackers. You have to make sure they are kept horizontal when installing or else they kind of droop. Pic of mine below with original Bushwackers installed by me..

Good luck
