x2 Layback I had a ratchet stand slip once just as I crawlled out from under the XJ. I have been a little apprehensive ever since.

Over the weekend I have installed new lower link bushes and had new crush tubes made for them. Every thing down there is a nice fit now, no slop. Also did the drivers side leaf bushes, again. This time I have used high strenth loctite on the front bolt and only tightend it until it grabbed + 1/3 turn. On the rears I did the same but used a nilock nut. I am hoping now the springs can flex better without tearing the bushes. Still need to do the passenger front bush but I don't like the taking out the springs as I find them annoying to line up the front bolt. Although I did fine allowing the spring to have full droop helped a lot, after atleast 30mins of cursing.

Regards A

Took it for a decent drive after a wheel alignment. Its still got a mind of its own just not quite as bad. Does anyone know where to get offset balljoints for it?

Pulled the front end apart to swap the front springs around as I am trying to combat the uneven settling of my 3.5 RE lift kit.

Well, I removed the springs and placed them alongside each other while I measured each of the springs whilst unladen. They were the same, however I managed to forget which was which as complacently forgot to mark which spring came from which side.

So, I took a punt and reinstalled everything hoping I had got it right. Upon initial measurement there seemed to be an improvement though after half an hour of settlement it had returned to its uneven origin.

Now, wondering if I should have another go and remember to mark the springs or just put a spacer in the the drivers side to even it up. There is an inch difference between the left and right in the front end.

I don't have much faith in wheel alignments these days.
I set up reference points on a piece of flatish concrete. and do your own measurements. work slowly until you get a good thing happening.
