I have noticed that there is a horrible grinding noise coming from the front left wheel. It's been an ongoing issue for about a year with it getting worse since my trip from Murchison Offroad Adventures which was a 1200km round trip. A mechanic who recently serviced the car has told me that a replacement wheel hub is needed. Has anyone heard of this problem?

Not a stone in the caliper? They tend to do that.

And guess what - Pickerings, Townsville found the problem immediately, front drive shaft and CV joint, badly worn, which they will hope will solve the problem and not have to touch the front diff. keeping my fingers crossed to get it back sooner than later!

A further update on the above issue - Pickerings of Townsville repaired it and I have since done approx 5,000 Km - a professional job well done - as I have posted elsewhere. (see link)

http://www.ausjeepoffroad.com/forum/...ght=Pickerings

BUT - the vehicle developed a fuel leak and I went to look (as you do) and found the underbody engine protection plate was missing. (Bash Plate) and guess who had that - yep - DC Motors of Rockhampton of course!

Shona of Chrysler/Jeep customer care found it for me, helpful and amicable as usual no problem too small and a little embarrased too. I also received a "soothing phone call" from Mike Stone, area manager (QLD/NT) of Chrysler Jeep.

Mike should not have had to make that call and was a little embarrased - I guess DC Motors are in for a torrid time from the Chrysler/Jeep end - self fulfilling I would say!
Surely a professional multi-dealership the size of DC Motors, would not let the side down like that and be so slack?

There seems to be a culture of no one accepting responsibility at that establishment and customer service - what's that?

It's all very convenient that Chrysler change their pooey nappies - how long will Chrysler keep doing that?

The other issue I raised with Mike Stone was do non-Jeep trained mechanics work on Jeep vehicles? I have had my vehicle serviced there several times and always there was work undone or not completed and they couldn't wait to change the diff oil which in itself was suspicious, seeing Pickerings (Townsville) diagnosed it straight off as CV Joint/Front Drive Shaft?
The last time my vehicle was serviced there at 80,000 Km I was told they had over booked Jeep services and had 12 vehicles to service (hope we can complete your vehicle today) so which brand of mechanic worked on which vehicle - perhaps the rapid, front diff oil change throws some light on this?

Would the fuel leak have occured if the bash plate had been replaced - probably not!

Fortunately there was no cost involved by me to repair it (Jeep Assist/RACQ fixed it) and Chrysler/Jeep have agreed to pay some accomodation fees so that I can have the item replaced.

Yes I sound negative - my experience has been nothing but negative every time I have been at DC Motors, their systems seem broken!

My experience and others I'm told, (by Jeep) have been treated like second class citizens, not by the staff, but by the end result.

As I said to Mike Stone, DC can spend thousands of $$$ on TV advertising to bolster sales but in the end if the back end (workshop/service) hasn't got its act together it is all a waste of money, when people feel pressured to get their vehicles serviced/repaired elsewhere, then they eventually buy a different brand of vehicle, because the bad experience caused by the dealer rubs off onto the brand!

My Jeep experience to now has been good because Chrysler/Jeep have always honored any warranty issue and because of my belief in the brand - that it is a brilliant tow and go anywhere vehicle.

Sorry for delay Bob,
I do not frequent this website very often anymore as I now have a Pajero.
I do not have his phone number, he contacted me after my numerous phone calls to customer service / warranty.
Best bet is get someone's email address there and keep the pressure on if you're having continual problems as I did.

In the end at 115,000 km on the clock and the second swirl motor plus inlet manifold replacement, I had had enough and changed brands.

Cheers,
John
