That's thrown a spanner in the works for me, because no use buying a new or near new car if I can't tow with it!
We are going to WA at the end of next month, so unless i've been told a load of bs, it looks like I keep the WH a bit longer and wait till later in the year to upgrade.
Jeep dealers are going to be losing sales for people in my situation if they don't sort it out quick!
Pedders usually know their stuff, but have you tried speaking to HR direct to get their view? I know of at least one guy who just had a HR bar fitted to a brand new JGC.

Well, I called the local ARB store, and they said yes, they can fit a HR towbar, so I hope they are right if I buy a 2017 GC. Otherwise it will be sitting in the carport while we go towing with the old WH!

An update - I contacted Hayman Reese direct for advice, they responded with confirmation that their part number 03144RW will fit the WK from 2014.
I was a bit thrown though as the reply came indirectly from Horizon Global pty ltd but
see this:"Horizon Global is home to some of the world’s most recognized brands in the towing and trailering industry, including: BULLDOG, Draw-Tite, Fulton, Hayman Reese, Reese, ROLA, Tekonsha, and Westfalia. Horizon Global has approximately 4,300 employees in 58 facilities across 21 countries."

Our GC was booked in for the recall today and first the dealer tried to shake us down for 3 hours labour to look at the tow bar and then they refused to look at the tow bar or the wiring they stuffed when fitting the tow bar. So now I have an expensive car that I bought to tow that I can't use.
Thanks FCA and the darwin dealer

Did I just read that right?

The dealership was paid to fit the "genuine" towbar, and now want to be paid to make the installation safe by completing a manufacturer's recall... and they are refusing to sort out their own wiring mistakes?

That's insane. How you didn't go certifiable apeshit I do not know. Or are you in the lock up?

I'd be going to this FCA complaint site http://www.fiatchrysler.com.au/FCA%2...g%20System.pdf
& giving them the facts of what happened so they are aware of that particular dealers lack of customer support!

Cheers

I sent a message to FCA last week enquiring about the towbar affair, no answer.
