Default Bridgestone D697 LT vs BFG AT LT

Hi guys

What are your thoughts on the above tires?
I've just ordered my lift kit from Crdstu, plus JBA A arms, and full bushings.
Tire choice had me a little stuffed though. Head says the Bridgestones (all though they don't excite me) heart says BFG's.
Realistically, it's weekend warrior type off roading/ touring, nothing crazy ( have the dirt bikes for that). Safety in all conditions is paramount, especially wet weather. And fuel consumption is a necessary reality.

Any advice much appreciated.

Cheers

i have the bfg's now and swear never again in the wet they slide around like a mud tyre even if i run with 5 psi less then road pressure . ive had the bridgestones on the other kj and like how they drove on everything but i would go the 697 over the older 694 pattern ..otherwise you could look at firestone destinations at .. just my opinions

I have had the older Bridgestone D694 LTs for at least four years now and they are fanstastic in the wet and a great all-round off road tyre - but they do get noisy as they wear down after say 60,000kms. They have been everywhere, Flinders Ranges rocks, Strez track, Birdsville track, Simpson desert, a couple of Jambos etc and never had a puncture, or loss of a tread block.

Can't comment on the D697 but it pretty much the same technology and compound I think, just a pattern change to follow the trend to more sidewall tread on the newer tyres.. but if your buying Bridgestones always make sure it's the LT version.

Have a look at the Yokohama Geolander AT-S in your size. LT construction, high quality at a great price, extremely quiet on road, go anywhere off road.

Admittedly I am running them on my WG Grand, but they are fantastic as an everyday trye.

I've been running the Bridgestone D697's for a few weeks on the TJ. I went with these because a few years ago i ran BFG AT's and they were terrible in the wet. During the last few days i've been dealing with flooded roads, standing water on roads, and all sorts. I can easily say that the D697's are one of the best tyres i've driven onroad in wet weather. I have been able to sit on the posted limit without a worry when hitting small amounts on water onroad. With previous tyres, and even on my other cars, when hitting water on the roads out here there's always a bit of aquaplaning but not so with the 697's, they are awesome. After the last few days of water everywhere, i'm very very very happy i have them!

They don't look anywhere near as tough or aggressive as the BFG's, which i initially didn't like but dog darn it they are pretty damn good to drive with. Here's a pic from monday:

cheers

Thanks guys

Message received loud and clear.

D697's it is.

I'll admit that it was a bit of ego driving for the big aggressive looking tire.

Thanks heaps

Do yourself a favour and have a look at the Hankook ATM as well , a real good performer on my TJ for a while now , and super quiet on road. Admittedly for serious off-road stuff I swap them out with mud tyres
