235x70 16 is the standard size so if your lifted I'd go 245x70 16 I had the older d694 and loved them as all rounder touring tyres ill be going to the d697 when I can but make sure you get light truck construction

Contemplating whether or not to go for mt's as my jeep is used less now for daily driving and more towards trips away. Or am i stupid as most will be all terrain type of driving.

I run muds and I don't like them that much, just don't like the low km I am gonna get out of them. My muds are fine in the wet as far as I can tell. Although I have locked it up once on heading towards a T junction, although I have done the same on Maxxis AT's. The other day I was breaking at 100kph not knowing the T junction was coming up. I saw many a Jeeper at Jambo run AT's. I was told once I get muds I would never go back. Athough I am in two minds on what to do next time. I want a tyre with a narrow side wall buldge like the Federals and BFGs have. Noise has been an issue with my tyres although I reckon it would be less if I didn't have feathering on the lugs and it is better since they were rotated. I will probably go muds again but with the knowledge that unless I go Micky Ts, mileage will be poor but the latter being twice the price. Ideally I would be doing heaps of offroading but don't know anyone in Tassie to go with. If I decide on muds next time then I will see how much proper use they before going them a third time. IMPO I would never go BFG's in any tyre whether that be on a 4WD or passenger vehicle. In 25 years of driving I have seen people have probs with BFG's on old first series commodores and it would seem that BFG has done little if anything to rectify the issue and I first found out there problems when I was sixteen.

I can agree with AG (in part), on our old XJ we ran mud tyres and got relatively poor life out of them compared to AT's.

I am going to look at AT's for my next tyre, because as most of my driving is done on road, and dirt tracks. However i will be looking for aggressive all terrains. I have used in the past on super super muddy stuff tyre chains, and they have pulled me through some amazing stuff & and i know plenty of blokes in the UK who run them when 4WDing.

if you buy mud tyres for the off chance that you may need them. you will end up using them once each lifetime, where they will excel over AT's. Save the cost and get some tyre chains, (less noise, better economy, cheaper tyres, longer tyre life)

Fair enough question but how do you formulate an informed answer when many answers thrown in don't relate in any way to the type of driving done so can you be reasonably informed?
