Default All Terrain Tyres

Can anyone suggest a good brand of all terrain tyres?

Any off road work I do is medium to hard grade to get to trout streams in the mountains. I recently blow the side wall out of one of the standard Goodyear tyres on my KJ and I noticed that the side walls are very thin.

What brands have thick multi ply side walls?

Cooper AT/R's are pretty good. Have had them for a few years now and they seem to wear ok. Got them on the MK now and after 10,000km they are still like new. There pretty good in sand and grip well in the wet.

If you got a lift there are some 245/75/16 MT ATZ's for sale just up the coast from you. Check the for sale section. Ive got the Coopers ATR's & are happy with them but I dont do any real ruff stuff. If you are looking for tuff sidewall construction go an LT (Light Truck) tyre which is all BFG & Mickey Thompson, with the Coopers you need to pick the right size as not all are LT. The 245/75 is LT, LT offer more carry capacity but stiffer ride.

The OE Wrangler SR/A really are pissweak when it comes to strenght

Check out my Ride(s)
Smile

Has anyone been running Maxxis tyres, 245/75/16. I'm finally getting the lift in Dec just in time for my 245/70/16's to be wearing. I'll have to sort the pinch weld but that's nothing a hammer and sealant cant fix. Also Palla you'll have to let me know which number plate holder I can fit to the spare when I ditch the current one as 75s wont squeeze in.
