I ripped a set of extended flares off the front of the XJ at Bylong (the playground), will have to go back to my King Spring coils which are way too hard. My extended flares are garden edging from Bunnings which I have screwed to my factory flares after trimming the guards and heat moulding the factory flares to their maximum.
The important thing is that my wheels never left the ground on the wombat holes & the vehicle sat flat all the way. We have photos of some vehicles with rear wheels so high that the driver sat under them for the shot.
BTW - thanks Bruce for a great weekend - can't wait for the next one.
I never made it through the first mud hole (which was extremely chewed out by the time I decided to give it a try), although in fairness, every vehicle after my attempt had to be recovered out. At-least I didn't need recovery.

I once bought a set of struts off eBay which lasted less than 12 months. Luckily I had kept the originals. The local re-gas guy said they are made in Germany and should last another 10 years (just like the first set). 18 months later they are still as good as new. Something I quickly learned is that Jeep got it very close to right the first time and the choice of anything after-market 'enhancements' should not be made lightly.

lets hope that doesnt happen to mine. my car didnt have originals in it and they were shorter so the tailgate didnt open all the way and i had to really duck to get under it.
