Default Lowish COG builds

Wondering if anyone else in aus has done low COG builds like the new trend in the US seems to be? Seen silly stuff like 2.5" lift with 35s etc so it made me realize fitting 33s on the 3-3.5" I have now is easily doable. Just wondering if there are any specific things to look out for when doing it?

Also has anyone completely removed their flares and made some flat flares up using garden edging and have a photo to show me what it looks like on an XJ? I'm seriously considering going down this route with some trimming.

Will probably end up with something like 285/75/R16 16x8 0 offsets or a 33x10.5 BFG as I don't want to widen the foot print too much.

This is exactly my question too. 33`s & 35`s look tuff on big lifts, but the LCOG concept has got me interested. I am considering running short arms & drop brackets with a 4" lift & extra long shocks bumpstopped to suit.

get a little armor under the belly locker and the thing will be unreal. big lift is for looks. When my 31" wear out I plan on 33s with trimming &bump stops, but will maximize my droop.

I'm aiming for 285/75 R16 on 16x8 4" BS with only 3".... With some belly skids and boatsides. When the budget allows that is! Still probably 18 months out on that one :-/

Hey out of curiosity, I wonder if control arm drop brackets would help droop on a low COG build? I've read the rough country ones "require" a 4.5" lift, just wondering if there would be any benefit when only running 3-3.5"

Have seen 34's squeezed under 2" lift with some clever cutting and massaging of gaurds. Not sure on this places obsession with 31's MUST have 3" lift, 33 MUST have 4" lift etc. Your gaining height but at the same time usually losing travel unless your moving shock mounts etc... There is always more than one way to skin a cat

But then belly clearance / uptravel / speed etc all have to balance out.

Still have a few things to sort out with my set-up before I can start playing with suspension properly to do any more than be a web wheeler on this topic unfortunately

seriously since my interest in this started i've seen 35's - 37's squeezed into cars with no more than 4" lifts. amazing what trimming and no requirement for arches allows you to do!

I'm not sure about the drop brackets, depends on if you have stock arms I guess too as they just bring them more level, the more level they are the more down travel you will get. I've got a lot of droop in my 3" lift as is with the sway bar disconnected, i'm using rocky road LCA's though.

It's good to see a few others sharing the same idea, I was thinking the exact same with waiting for my 31s to wear down and going up to 33's or 285/75s.

Also the reason I was making inquiries about the t-case clocking... when i get back next year i will have a lot of work to do
