AW4 Transmission not shifting when hot
The tcu has an input to turn the torque converter lock up off when the brakes are applied this was wired to the brake switch which will then be open circuit if the switch fails or both brake light globes blow becuase of the internal tcu design this line will float high without the resistance of globes. can also be an issue if you switch to LED rear lights without a resistor acroos the circuit. The torque converter lockup in the aw4 is quiet noticeable and in cruise gears almost feels like an overdrive. This input is also used for shift program which is fairly basic but basically will shift a bit lazier than normal because it thinks you are slowing down with the brakes applied.
For mine I have added led's giving indication of the state from each solenoid so I can see what gear and the lock up status which combined with some time studying the wiring diagrams was how I was able to get absolute with the behaviour
