Default Replacement battery

I couldn't find anything in the search but had to replace the original battery from 2010! Not a bad life at all. Anyway the Century battery site had the replacement completely wrong in size and terminal orientation, so worked with them on getting the best one to fit without modifying the tray at all and exceeding the original specification for 600 CCA and 120 RC. Other sites had ones as low as 500 CCA!
So what we ended up with is one that is taller than stock but clears the underside of the bonnet with plenty of spare room. NS70X MF Century. 720 CCA and 160 RC. Took all of 5 minutes in the car park at Autobarn to swap it over. Much cheaper than a D34 Optima too and has a higher RC capacity and only slightly lower CCA.

This battery is very common too and should be easy to find as fits so many different cars and even the Jeep Wrangler.

If I can fit one in, I'll be putting the same battery I have in my other 4WD's. When the dollar was good against the USD$, they were cheap too! And if they last in a bulldozer rattling away all day.... however you can only get them from a Caterpillar parts distributor.

They are rated at -18DegC too, not +20DegC like a lot of the others rate at.

Stainless steel threaded bolt terminals, so a little bit of work to convert, but once done, no battery terminal problems ever again.

Caterpillar '175-4390', 1000CCA (yes, @ -18DegC!!), 180RC, 90Ah.

There is also a 175-4370: 825CCA, 190 RC, 100Ah. If you don't have a second battery system and are running fridge, etc, from the main battery, this one would be a bit better.

I should state that mine is the V6 petrol and not the diesel with the battery on the other side.

3.7L Petrol requires @540CCA. 2.8L Diesel @810CCA.

And it is also on the 'passenger' side in the diesel.
(That photo is my R50 Pathfinder.)

But I just noted there were some warnings that the Jeep KK came with an AGM fitted as standard, and should only be replaced with an AGM. That would be because of the voltage set at the regulator most likely. I'll bet not many places that don't look up the specs recommend an AGM replacement?!

The Caterpillar I linked to is a Calcium wet cell. Apparently not suitable??

Just a normal lead acid on the petrol versions.
