Default Help! Wife has crashed JK!

Help!

I everyone my wife spun the JK into a guard rail on one of those extremely wet mornings we've had in Sydney last week.

The Steering wheel no longer turns the front wheels.

I climbed under and took some photos and it looks like she's completely sheered off the power steering box? The arm is protruding out the front just below the front bumper (Pic attached).

I want to have a crack at repairing it with my mates at his mechanics but want to make sure I source and buy the right part so we can get it drivable again before I take to the smash repairer. Can anyone tell me which part I need to buy and any good contacts/wreckers etc? It's a 2013 2 door JK.

Any help would be appreciated - Thanks!

Looks like you need a complete steering box assembly to start off with. You then need to check the other steering components for obvious damage/bending ie: tie rod ends, rod links, steering column shaft to steering box connector etc. Would also check for other not so obvious damage to the chassis rails, front diff housing, axles & hubs to see if they are bent etc

Cheers

Not a wrecker, but here are starting prices for new ones from Rockauto.

You'll need to add shipping, but you typically get it on the doorstep within a week.

edit: Not sure if they use different ones for RHD vs LHD, though...

replacement steering box. $200-500
maybe new drag links, tie rods etc depends on damage.
Factory ones someone will give you for free. or 700 or so for brand new strong aftermarket units.
a wheel alignment

3-5 hours and some beer for replacement. Not a big deal to repair, most people break the selector shaft off the steering box wheeling.

Cant see your photos because theyre blocked on my work PC!

But I snapped a sector shaft off road.

I got a used steering gear box for just under $300 and it was simple enough to swap out.

Find a wrecker who speciallises in Wranglers
