Default JK Diesel Auto regearing

I'm finally getting lockers in my JKU CRD Auto 2012 with the 3.21 ratio. The lockers and gearing will be changed to 4.11. I'm running 33" tyres and currently love my fuel economy but hate driving and especially towing up hills as the transmission wants to drop and rev up and overheat my transmission.

Am I right in thinking that I will get much worse economy but he less likely to downshift gears when under load? Does anyone else with the diesel have 4.1 gears and can chime in?

Mine came with 4.10 from the factory (2007 Build) but its a 6sd manual & has a higher towing capability.
If your re-gearing you'll have been told you have to reprogram the auto box to match ?

Yeah I'm pretty sure Procal or my USB dongle can do the reprograming.

you might be surprised. revving a bit higher doesnt seem to affect the fuel usage as much as you think.

if there is no additional load on the engine, effectivly it can just spin 'freely'

you might even find you get cooler engine temps due to improved fluid circulation

just try driving around in a lower gear for a bit, see what it does to your fuel use.

There will be a point where the engine is revving so high that does affect fuel, but as long as you're under 2200 or so, you should see a similar useage

also, reving lower, doesnt always mean less fuel usage. It's all about how much fuel needs to be injected to maintain the RPM
