Thanks for the feedback Majik,

I also bought a spare key almost the same as that one from the same mob yesterday.
So I have one from China coming and one from Oz for the 2005 GC.
Can never have enough spare keys.

So just to clarify, when you get the pin and program the transponder to the car ignition, does it also program the doors etc to lock.

Cheers,

Hi Guys,

Yes Autel MK808 did the unlock and lock programming all in one.

Too wet to work this arvo so thought I would try having a go programming key I had cut about 6 months ago. I wasn't sure which app to use appcar or Jscan decided on Jscan to see if it would read my pin.

I used an OBDLink MX Bluetooth interface and went to get pin it gave me 2 but either one was the correct pin (I already had pin from jeep dealer). I then followed the on-screen directions and the key was programmed without any problems and it was programmed to lock and unlock automatically.

Hope this helps.

Thanks,

That really does help, as I have JScan.
So, great result. We can now program keys and have a bunch of spares for next to nothing.
Funny how you can buy keys for around $15, cut for $10 and program in 5 minutes for free, yet dealers are asking between $400 and $700 for the pleasure, just because they had us by the balls.
Well, not any longer. We should have a dedicated Jeep Key Fob page with links, tips and tricks for Australian spec spare keys for all models. Great that app developers can now pull pins and program keys and folk are now selling cheap 433mhz Australian frequency keys.

Cheers,
