From the google research I have done it seems that if the transfer case differential is worn it will cause the "service 4wd system"error and as a consequence low range will not select.

I had the vehicle to the dealer on 08.12.2015 and the wiTech scan report came up with this code but I don't recall them mentioning that this worn clutch would cause the service 4wd system error.

I could select 4 low for nearly 12 months and it would seem that this worn clutch didn't impede the selection.

The BlueDriver has given 4x low back via the original FDCM that had the N23 flash performed on it. So I'm a bit dubious about fitting the pre un-flashed N23 FDCM in the vehicle while the original is working as I don't want it corrupted.

Worn clutch's will trigger the "service 4wd system" but it won't lock out 4low, just cycle the ignition and you will get 4 low back.

I used to get "service 4wd system" while towing, usually hours into a trip on long highway stints just cruising along. Swapped out T/C and it hasn't happened since.

Where did you get the T/C from Clarky...was it a re-manufactured one that you swapped your's for.

second hand, had about 100,000 on it.
Quadra Trak have the same T/C as Quadra Drive so that may make it easier to find one.

The Scan Report came up with a C1438 Active code : Transfer Case Differential Clutch Worn.

Anyone know if I need to get this replaced asap, I imagine after 177,000 km that there would have to be some wear particularly when at least 80% of this has been towing a van or boat.

There's no noise/vibration coming from the transfer case.

Any advice would be appreciated.
Good to know it also worked for you.

Mine had several codes, including C140F, the first time I used the BlueDriver. I just figured that the software update probably triggered them, and cleared them all to see if that would give me low range back, then see if any codes returned. The only ones so far are for two glow plugs that have apparently failed.

It's a great little tool to have, interesting I used mine again a few days ago and I have 2 active glow plug codes..P0676 and P0675, Cylinders 6 and 5 Glow Plug circuits open....which I believe this means they have failed.

Even so, the vehicle is starting first turn even on these cold mornings..I've ordered a set of glow plugs.

It also came up with a stored C1035 Right Rear Wheel Speed Comparative Performance ans a stored C1032 Right Rear Wheel Speed Sensor Signal Erratic Performance.

Replaced it over the weekend a bit of a challenge getting the old sensor out though.

All good now.
