LOL... nothing is simple. THe pipes look exactly like my American Racing ones BUT the ends look different. Mine use a welded on triangular flange, with flat gaskets - yours' look to be floating.

I had to modify / extend all my sensor wiring and so I put it in fiberglass sleeving and used alluminized Mylar high temp tape over it all. Apparently paranoid is my middle name.

Yes, Have to get some of that. Know any good places to buy it?

The other thing I'd look at doing, is splicing in some teflon insulated wires. Used to use that stuff all the time at Qantas.

edit: I don't have any mylar tape or fibreglass tubing, but I remembered that a little while ago I picked up some more self fusing silicone tape. I feel a bit better now there is a layer over the wires, (under the melt in boiling water plastic split tube). And another over the top os it. And an extra where it is closest to the headers. That'll do for now!

The Mylar / tape is used for AC ducts etc.... I got mine at Bunnings. downside is that it doesn't stretch so its a section at a time - if you follow. Wasn't the first place I expected to find it. Fiberglass sleeving came from my local electric element repair shop. Both quite cheap.

I changed the Lambda sensors at the same time and got ones with looooong cables so had enough length. BTW you shouldn't solder Lambda sensor wires, just in case your tempted.

I'll have a look when I get back to Bunnings next.

Electrical supplier didn't have any fibreglass sleeve. Might get a set of 8 from eBay for $30...

Which sensors did you get? I think I might be up for some as the CEL is back... Hmmm, P0430 now. Have to check all the plugs & wires. Something might have been cooked... I like the idea of longer leads, they can always be shortened.

Also picked up some Maniseal. Despite clamping the sections as well as I could, it sounds terrible & is leaking. Time to pull it all apart again & put some slits in the sections so they can be clamped properly & seal them with some goo...

The small cats are notorious for not lasting long..... they are mostly so you can look responsible. They also look like they were ceramic coated - how were they protected during the process ?

Can't remember the Lambda sensor part numbers - they are from the Bosch "universal fit" range. I'll see if I can find the data. They come with an inline connector assembly which allows you to graft them on to the old wiring but i don't like them much so i used small diameter bare crimp joiners then insulated them then added the fiberglass sleeving.

I also tried the local electrical wholesalers for the fiberglass sleeving, they didn't carry it either but suggested the local specialist Electrical Element shop. They had a decent selection.

Much appreciated. I looked for replacements & found lots, but comments against some that said they didn't work well with the Jeep and generated heater errors or the like, so gave up trying to decide. Probably like thermocouples, you have to use the same wires or else it messes with the readings.

I don't know how they were protected, but looking into them after I picked them up, they looked clean...
