My engineering report finally came through from the Main Roads Dept of WA. I now have to find a weighbridge and get a certificate of the tare weight. Then i have to take it to a specific examination center almost 50 kilometers away.
Getting closer to the goal posts but they are still making me jump through the final hurdles..
Cheers,

Thanks Swampy, yes, the weighing in thing must be something they all like to do..
Thanks Paul for info. I'm close to Mandurah, so i am getting a movement permit and taking the old girl for a test drive down there and getting a weight certificate just off Gordon rd. Should be an interesting run and should stretch the old girls legs out.
I won't be able to take the car in for rego for at least 3 weeks due to work commitments but i hope to have her all ready to go over the pits by then. This will include tiding up the wiring and just making sure everything is tip top for the inspection.
Cheers,

Got a movement permit and drove the Jeep the 30 kays to the weighbridge station. All up, the movement permit and weighbridge cost $60. The original tare of the XJ is 1590 kg, and now it is 1960 kg. I have added 370kg of accessories over time, including the long range tank, rear tyre carrier, winch, roof rack, my wallet, drawers, thumper battery, larger tyres, LPG system etc..
How much more than original tare is a 4WD allowed to weigh?
Cheers,

as you are still well under the " maximum load, passengers & cargo" of +610kg, you should be ok? (thats for a 4 door 4.0 '96)
now that great aphrodisiac of a big fat wallet is all skinny, that will help
on a trip with a 4 people and some gear you would be technically over probably

Yes, i checked my GVM and its a bit over 2.2T, so i should be OK.
I had a bit of free time this arvo and as i had all the parts and tools, i made my centre console cup holders. They came out good and are the large type that can hold big bottles and cans. Should come in handy this summer.
Cheers'
