Yep ... a big lawn mower engine ... imagine that ... a jeep getting 80mpg ...

There is a yank, home made electric XJ on the internet somewhere ... was done years ago. Chrysler must have found the site.

thats what the prius actually does.

what would happen if put the '4wd' through a river at least you wouldnt pop a rod through the sump you could however electricute all the fish brining your fishing trip to a succesful yet unenjoyable end.

but serisosly electric motor hate water as much as jeep owners love muddy swamps.

well no it dosent,i just done a quick google. the engine at low speed is there to power batteries(lots of them) then when requied(like on the hightway) the engine helps push the car too.
i was going on about having a petrol generater thats there soley to power the electric motor thats bolted to the gearbox. as far as water go, i dont know, plenty of heat shrink and vasoline?? the electric motor could be sealed in a box with breather hose going into the cabin???

With an electric motor you wouldn't need a breather, just seal the box and you are done. Rinspeed did this with that underwater car they made recently.

The generator would need one, but I guess this can be easily snorkeled.
