What Jeep do I drive?: CJ

Check out my Ride(s)
Default 79 CJ7 Quadratrac + +

So I'm trying to understand my 79 CJ7 Renegade
I've got;
a) AVM locking hubs
b) Glove Box Emergency Switch and
c) Floor Hi/Lo Lever

You can see the hubs are "locked" but the switch is "off".

1. Does this mean the front axle will turn when the wheels turn?
2. Does this mean the Transfer case will not transfer to the front because the switch is turned off?
.....And in essence is in 2 wheel drive mode - despite the hubs being locked?

3. Can someone explain to me what would be the point in unlocking the hubs?
If I'm understanding things correctly - if they were unlocked and you flicked the glove box switch - the front axle will turn but the wheels wont be engaged.

Am I getting this right?

That looks like a stock setup apart from the locking hubs, mine looked like that. Guess you will have to lift up the front wheels and see what spins, to make sure it has a part-time kit installed or they just put hubs on the front for no reason.

Unlock the hubs and see if it drives forward. The switch in the dash locks the transfer case and puts power front and back the same (if stock), unswitched it works like a slip diff more power to the slipping wheels.
