Default Bump stop gap

Hello all.
I have a 2011 Wrangler 2.8 l diesel unlimited , I have fitted a 2.5 inch teraflex lift kit to it.Driving over speed bumps (very slowly) it feels like the front bump stops are hitting the front axle ,the gap is about one inch ,maybe slightly under, the people I bought the kit off said about 1.5 inches is normal ,this does not seem enough gap to let the shockers do their work properly but I am far far from being an expert , I hope someone on this forum can let me know what the gap should be .
Cheers all

The bump stops you get with the Teraflex kit are too long. From memory they are a bit over 3 inches and yours being the diesel will be heavier in the front which will narrow the gap even more.
I found mine was bottoming out all the time with the Teraflex bump stops so I measured the compressed length of my shocks and worked out how short a bump stop I could go, then made them up from a plastic cutting board. I think they ended up being about 1.5 inches shorter than the Teraflex bump stops but the improvement was huge. It is a PITA changing them though because you have to pull the springs back out.
So if I were you I'd measure how much actual lift you got and if you haven't got the amount you wanted due to the weight of the diesel, I'd order some spacers and put them in while your changing the bump stops to get the required amount of lift.

Have they got 3-4” shocks?

I previously had the factory 2” lift shocks and spent ages getting it right. With 45mm lower shock extensions on the front and 1” upper drops on the back I had 1” spacer in the front and 40mm in the back of memory serves.

I’ve just fitted 9550 for a 2-3” lift and this is what teraflex told me to do. Tho I haven’t had a chance yet to look at it.

“Measure the length of chrome shock shaft showing. Measure the distance from the top of the spring perch to the bottom on the metal bump stop cup. Make sure you are going to stop that axle before the shock bottoms out. Add spacers as needed.”

Currently I have 5” shock and 5” to the metal stop rear

And a bit over 4 1/2 shock and 5” metal stop front.

And

Thanks for your help men , I will pull our the terafex bump stop extenders and only use the original ones . I will check the shocker travel lengths and make my own bump stops for the axle as needed.Your help is greately appreciated.
