Default Diff pinion bearing oil starvation

Has anyone experienced (or heard about) the diff pinion bearing failing due to oil starvation, with the diff housing pointing towards the transfer case?
I'm not far off rebuilding my Dana 44s and was thinking of leaving the pinion oil slinger out (or modifying it so it is no longer an oil slinger but a shim, if need be) to compensate for the lack of oil level. Reason being I'd rather change out many pinion oil seals than have to strip/repair my diffs due to failed pinion bearings.
I'm talking about a road going 4wd, not just a competition/fun 4wd that doesn't cover many kms and gets plenty of pinion bearing lube going down steep descents.
Anyone?

No, when you open up the dana 44 or dana 30, you will see a fairly large pocket cast into the inside top of the housing, this is designed so that when you are driving the oil gets thrown up into there from your crown wheel and feeds the bearing. The oil slinger in these diffs helps the oiling of the pinion bearing as it slows the flow of the oil back out of the bearing.

Cheers for the insight. I just had a nosey in the housing and that makes sense.
So the oil slinger is more of an oil baffle….
So in theory, oil should get flung off the crown wheel into the opening/pocket regardless of diff angle? (to a certain point obviously)
Thanks again for the info

Search on youtube for clear diff cover. There is a video I have seen on there showing the insides of a diff while its on a dyno. It an absolute oil storm in the housing. By about 50kmh you cant see anything from the amount of oil being thrown around the inside all of which is being thrown from the crown wheel.

Found a vid by clear gearz with a clear diff cover, yeah looks pretty messy in there. Not too concerned about lack of oil anymore!
Cheers
