Default Rego stuff

Hey, Im picking up my first jeep this weekend... '99 TJ hardtop.

I need to change it from NSW rego to ACT so it'll need to go over the pits. It has a 2" lift and 33" tyres.... I feel like Mr. Inspector isn't going to like that combo.

Can anyone confirm that this would be the case? And if so is there anyone in the ACT or somewhere within reasonable driving distance that would have some TJ wheels i can borrow or buy for super cheap to pass an inspection?

Thanks
Blake

Cant speak for the ACT but 2 in lift with 31's would be legal any where else, 33 could be a problem because that would be 4 in over standard tyre diameter. Just swapped mine over in the NT, from VIC. 2 1/2 suspension lift and 31's, not quite legal but looks all in proportion. Took it over the RTA pits not a problem, didn't bother them at all. The big trick is to keep it looking fairly normal and in proportion. A smaller 4x4 with big rubber is a red rag to a bull and will just draw attention. The other main issue is when you fit bigger dia tyre it affects the breaking, this will be picked up on the brake test machines, 31's have minimal affect, 33's, 35's a brake upgrade in generally needed to meet the standards.

Check out my Ride(s)

Always have to go back and look at overall height and tyre height over stock. My JK was a Rubicon so I was okay with 33's as they were the same size as the stock options - but that track width, I forgot about the track width. Having said that, I paid for a set of rollers to be sent out here to me in the ACT for inspection of my WA jeep - they're for sale so if ya know anyone who needs em...

The killer for me was track width of the 33's. That was over and it takes no effort to be too wide - so I needed the stock wheels.

My JK now is legal and once I change the springs it will sit a bit lower, thank goodness. The engineering fees were too high for me to mess with.
