Default nearly done

I didn't like the finish of the paint I used as it got some crap on it as it dried, so after a few days, sanded back and tried again. Got some hammertone paint and used that and then black on top. Hope it works out ok as I'm not going to do it again. Also made a little number plate holder today.

For the catch, I used the largest I could find at Whitworths out of stainless. It's not exactly what I wanted, but should do the job for now untill I get time sometime in the future. I really liked what Stevef did, but too much fiddling and thinking to get right (or is that thinking and fiddling). I've also thought up a few ideas for roller bearings if the nylon bush doesn't work out.

Now just waiting for paint to dry properly. I find this hard to do as I usually get impatient and want to fit stuff soon after painting and then it gets marks etc.

Ok pics of number plate holder. This was made out of bits I had laying around. Not sure if it will be a good design or not, but I will end up with extra wheel nuts. Connector is a waterproof one and the number plate light is a $12 Narva special (didn't feel like paying $23 for a LED).

What type of black paint are you using. I found that the black gloss Kill rust brand is the best out there in a can. (A bright shine)

Apart from that looking good

TassieXJ

I did the front bar in a black urethane

when I did the rear I had some bull bar black paint (which I didn't like the finish of). I ended up getting some hammertone stuff (not the white knight) which really didn't end up what I thought it would - so ended up using more urethane which gives a nice glossy finish. I'm trying to use up all the stuff I have as I have to ditch whatevers left before I move as removalist won't touch the stuff. The wheel carrier was done in bumper black which is satin. ( mix and match). I would really just like something that is tough and chip resistant.
