Default How To - Cutting TJ to fit 37s with 2" lift - Highline Conversion

What would be the best tool to cut body panels?? The only thing i could think of was a die grinder with a small cutting wheel on it, what do u think? Dont want to use a grinder, and would a jigsaw be to rough on panels and paint.

I usually use a jigsaw and lots of tape to protect the paint... also use an angle grinder in some spots, but you have to be careful that you don't heat the area up too much and damage the paint.

Also used an electric reciprocating saw and that thing kicked ass... might make it on my birthday list this year

Oh, and use a fine blade on the jigsaw or recip saw.

This is the plan lift the rear flare 3inches then trim body work.
Unbolt the whole front fender and lift 3.5inches(to that line along the bonnet) cut the front of the flare to line up with the grill and of course trim the bonnet.

this is roughly what it will look like

hehe....

You guys have heard of a nibbler haven't you?

I cut panels with a hand (not power) nibbler from the REVERSE side (i.e. blade cuts into the painted side) with great success. It takes a little longer, but you have full control at hand speed, and you can take off as much as you think your balls will stand without damaging anything too quickly.

i reckon you cant go past a 5 inch grinder with a 1mm blade on it, very little heat and no paint scratching, they are designed for stainles so they dont heat it up much. Slice through very quickly
