The FJ is an exceptional vehicle in almost every aspect. The front CV strength could improve, The rear seats are not fun to enter/exit from, but thats immaterial for the basic purpose of what they are likely trying to achieve.
Sale figures will be affected because they are a niche vehicle. Without the inclusion of a diesel option, their sales never quite made it to Wranglers level - this would be vastly different if they considered a diesel engine option.
When Fukushima occurred, much of the parts supply for FJ cruiser was inaccessible for a period, and taste for the vehicle may have faltered with the lack of available parts. Otherwise, I can't see a decent reason for Toyota to ever stop making it.

Wow , really, how could you trust what that guy says with a claim like that.
The cherokee XJ up to the Grand Cherokee WJ certainly didn't have trouble with wheel travel even standard.
