I could be interested in that too - keen to explore a little more what's around Melbourne - there's some tracks in Blackwood/Daylesford/Castlemaine area that look interesting. Just so long as it's not a Wrangler-only thing and nobody minds a Cherokee Trailhawk in the mix...

Hi everyone

We had an awesome time @ Wombat on Wednesday
/Thursday.

Entered through Blackwood (if you need beers/supplies get them back in Melbs - hell expensive) 1 hour from Melbourne.

Drove down Lederderg Rd (unsealed) up to Nolan Creek Picnic Area, then south to the bush camp. The picnic area is really nice and secluded as is the camping area (no toilets etc)

The following were CLOSED:
Wheeler Track
Ottie Track
Loam Track

That I remember.

CHECK 4x4 Earth as suggested by someone....sorry can't remember there name.

The place is so peaceful it's almost scary Only saw 2 trail bike riders and some nutta in a Hilux flying down unsealed roads with blind corners WAY TO FAST

Any who had a good nights rest and the next day went out searching for tracks and found that the EASTER MONDAY track was open on both ends and decided to give her a go!

For a beginner like my self (TJ STOCK) it was LOADS OF FUN. Not many ruts and nothing too full on. It is a little tight in some areas and God knows how you would turn around if you had to. Let alone if you had someone coming towards you

Be prepared to have some new war scars on your rig (mine wears hers with pride) otherwise stick to something else

A few notes:

-There was no phone reception out there so be prepared to hike out if you get stuck.
-Probably best to not go alone - I had the missus, she's a champion! What I do mean is go with another person driving.
-Check the depth of the ruts (can be very deceiving)
-Don't be a hero....way to many opportunities to really drop yourself and your beloved Jeep in the s**t as a beginner.
-For the love of God, take your bloody rubbish/trash with you.
- Get yourself a map! I've got the Meridian 4x4 Touring Guide

I for one will be looking into a beginner 4x4 drivers course or maybe hooking up with some experienced drivers before I head back out into the unknown

Overall, a really awesomely great 1st time out

I'd be happy to answer any questions about my trip, but keep in mind I AM LESS THAN A NOVICE, and I'm sure there are EXPERIENCED people on the forum that could answer questions a lot better than me

Keep safe

Zz
