Default KJ Vs JK Fuel usuage

Sorry if this has been covered elsewhere guys but I was wondering what the difference in fuel consumption between the Cherokee & the Wrangler Unlimited both in Petrol Auto's. I am a sales rep & most of my driving is city stop/start with the occaisional long trip.

Cheers

If your interested in economy buy a diesel, they are easy to drive for economy and in city traffic can almost be coasted around on using partial thottle thanks to their excellent torque figures. My KJ CRD gets over 530km a tank on my regular city/suburbs cycle and over 750km a tank on the highway. The petrol KJ and JK will get terrible mileage in the city compared to the diesel and long term (assuming you do alot of kilometres per year) the diesel will save you thousands $. Yes, the diesel will cost more initially, and that is why I am sugesting that you need to plan to drive it alot or keep it a very long time to payback the investment differences. You can buy second hand diesels and these maybe better investment decisions - but then again people don't buy Jeeps as investment decisions.

Basically, it'd be shithouse in either.
Heavy vehicles + auto + petrol + stop-start driving = about the worst conditions for economy, other than towing a trailer up a sandhill.

mate, if you're a sales rep, looking for a work vehicle, a petrol 4wd would normally be the last thing you'd buy. the fuel bills will bankrupt you.

with petrol auto, you are looking at 15L/100K for stop/start trips, and 12L/100K on highway with cruise control

Thanks for the advice guys, my last job has had me in a company car for the last 4yrs so I was pretty excited about getting a car allowance so I can finally get another fourby. I was thinking about Diesel but haven't driven a Diesel for a couple of years & was worried about the drivabillity. Less chance of getting speeding tickets I guess. How do the new Diesels go???
