Default RHD Export JK Time limited !

Came across this post in a forum in England
"Hi All

My JK recently developed a problem where it either would not start or would start then stop after a few seconds. The fault was traced to the troublesome wireless module that fits around the ignition key barrel. So at that point I thought it was an easy fix. I was then dismayed to be told by the garage that the part in question was no longer made and there was no stock anywhere. The part had to be new and unused due to its one time programmable security feature. I approached Jeep and after an 'investigation' on their part they too stated that all suitable parts had been discontinued due to the 'age' of the vehicle. So they effectively no longer support my version of the JK.! This means that many thousands of Jks of my vintage which let's face it are not that old, are all living on borrowed time. The part in question is 05026800AD or AE."

Quite concerning
Checked out the part availability (export version) & no longer supported !
Version was a 2.8 CRD 2009 reg

Really feel for the guy. To write off a working truck because of the electronic shitty bit (immobilizer) this is Chrysler for you. Never ever again for me!

Mine plays up once in the blue moon just keep cranking without start. Need to remove the key and give 10-15 seconds.

The only work around could be to give the module to an electronics workshop or Nerd and replace all chips on the PCB provided they're still available.

Have the ecm reprogrammed to disregard the immobilizer when a start request is made. There are vendors in the USA that provide this service.

I have a faint memory shortly after getting the JK back in 2009 of having issues such as this. Was staying in a caravan at the time and was getting plenty static off all those nylon furnishings !
There was a TSB back then for the WCM for replacement due to problems with static.
Don't know if it actually makes any difference but since reading that I've always grounded the key on the metal body work before slipping it into
the ignition.

Here's the TSB in question
