Steering Column Wire Nest
Hey all,
Finally scored a few days to get some tricky tack things done on my jeep. All going well until an old issue with my M13 fuse blowing immediately starts acting up again. Previous owner did a bit of a hack job wiring the radio so I figured I'd change that and see if it fixed a hidden short. After that I now have a much better head unit that works great but no fuse fix so I moved on. Was just trying to disconnect my multifunction switch to see if it was causing the fuse to go when I found this nest of wires and two harnesses under the dash.
The left is a terrible speaker hack job with some sort of speaker boost - I'll fix that - but was curious if the other two wire clusters have anything I should clean up that could be shorting. Have lots of ideas but figured I would throw this out there and see what you all think. Just trying to make sure I look at everything because I hate that noFUSE on my dash!

I haven't gone out to look, but I'm wondering if it is related to the audio system when the OEM amp is installed under the steering column?

They look a lot like speaker wiring.

Thanks, Banshee. That would make sense, lots of room down there. Just tried unplugging the left multifunction switch and still blowing M13 immediately. Will pull the wcm and see if that does anything and keep looking for frayed wires.

Covered any exposed wire I could see and that didn't help the M13 issue. WCM wiring was fine as well. Letting the battery drain down overnight now because I just have no idea. Even flipped the tipm to have a glance to make sure that was alright. Nothing exposed, wondered if maybe a connection where the fuse sits has an issue but not sure how to check that. May pull the dash out again tomorrow and try unhooking the yellow power wire to the radio and see, only tested with the red acc wire when I installed it. If not I plan on losing my mind on Friday.
