Default real world fuel consumption

hi guys, i have tried to find the official fuel consumption for a 4.7 wj or wg and i can only find the city cycle of 18l / 100.

i currently have an XJ. is the Grand's usage much worse than the xj?

(whats highway consumpton litres/100km etc like in your experience?)

I have a 2004 v8 4.7L Overland edition.

Trip to Caloundra from brissy, by about 30 mins into the trip i was sitting on 10L/100.

To work each day which is 30 mins in light traffic about 15 mins at 80km/hr the other 15 mins is standard suburban but its not a bad drivei sit on 14.8L/100.

The few times I have been brave enough (rich enough) to hit real traffic its climbed straight to 18 or 19L/100.

I am getting a new exhaust system soon, which I am led to believe is going to improve fuel consumption and power! I'll let you know what actually happens

Hope this helps

Hey anti, I have an '01 4.7 limited, on a recent return trip to Coffs from Brisbane it did around 11.5L/100 & around town including peak hr traffic its up around 16.5-17L/100.

I used to have a 3.2L V6 Frontera & for memory I dont think it was much better around town & was prob 1L/100 better on the highway.

I still maintain the Jeep is comparable on consumption to most of the larger petrol engined 4x4's

Cheers

Chris

I have a WG Limited. On the highway cruising at 100 with the occassional overtaking I average about 10.4 l/100km.
Suburban worktrip about 15 mins both ways averaging about 35km/h average is about 16 l/100km.
Not sure how much difference exhaust makes but I changed the muffler to a straight through so it probably helps and the V8 sounds awesome.

wowie, thats pretty good for a heavy vehicle!
as i said, i have an xj and its about the same highway figures.

my other car is an 03 commodore station wagon, this vehicle seems to have about 14l/100 around town and the best i have got is a solid 7 on the hway (the engine goes very lean in cruise, but the throttle musn't move for a continous 30 seconds, however we never get this on the work run on the ipswich motorway!)
its also 500kg lighter though.

now all i have to do is to convince the wife that we should sell the c'dore (i love my xj) and get a vehicle that's similar to the vy in size and has leather seats...

Did you remove both muffler and cat converter? Is it much louder than a stock setup?
