Is the problem that oil is getting into the swirl motor and after time it cause damage? I have found on my WH that oil is in the intake and from what i have read that if the seal on the turbo is an orange type to replace it. Not sure why theirs a problem with that type of seal. The part no. i found is a US no. for the new intake 53013672AE, i'm told that jeep part no. are all the same world wide.
Now what i'm going to do is fit a PREVENT 200 catch can system to stop oil sucking up into the intake manifold. I'm a motor mechanic and all our trucks and excavators in our fleet, as a part of maintenance is to make sure that no oil enters the intake.

The only thing that came up were posts from this and the 300C forums.

My question is. If it is such a common a fault, why are there no posts from around the world apart from these two sites. This is their most common engine and no one else has put anything online. Why would that be the case?
you need to learn how to get more creative with your googling, try "inlet port shut off"

here's just a FEW of the posts from my google search

I too am a diesel mechanic & I agree catch can probably should be fitted to all turbos, deisel or otherwise.
Whilst I have no experience with this engine it sounds very likely its oil getting into the electric motor causing failure.Ive replaced plenty of failed alternators & starters due to oil ingress.

Well Lads I did try but I couldn't get the failed part. Already gone...

BTW I had a wheel sensor fail also, it's the thing on the wheel hub with the balck wire coming from it. The front right sensor crapped itself and the ABS, BAS, ESP lights all lit up, with front brakes squeeling.
The item was replaced and all is good.

I spend lots of time keeping my engine compartment clean. I didn't realize that oil could so easily kill electric motors.

No luck for me. Jeep will not pay for my swirl motor. They told me they have 3 conditons you must pass for them to pay, they are.... 1. Must be the original owner, 2.MUst have had vehicle serviced only by Jeep dealers and, 3. Must be no more than 6 months out of warranty.I am second owner, have always used dealer for services and my vehicle was more than 12 months over warranty so basically and very arrogantly bad luck fix it yourself. This is bloody frustrating as they refuse to acknowledge that this is a common problem. They told us it is pretty much a one off but when I told them of this forum and others which showed it is very common and should be a recall, they got very defensive and were obviously in denial. I have rang several dealers for the best price and they all admit they are replacing this obviously faulty part several times a week . Seems to me they are all happy to keep the mechanics busy and taking our hard earnt for their crappy product.
