Default Modifications have begun....

You may all remember that I purchased a 2001 XJ not too long ago.

Well, the mods have started.

Used my TJ Tera disconnects. Cut out 60mm and welded them back together and they went in relatively easily. Just have to work out a system to "tie up" when disconnected.

Front towhook was added. Used the bracket that was already on there and mounted the tow hook to it.

Next door neighbour is selling his Jackeroo and offered me his 225/75/R16 BFG ATs for free as long as I pay for the tyre swap (the Goodyear street tyres I have for BFG ATs). Excellent idea I thought!! Will do for the time being until I can afford to lift it.

So, discos, towhook and tyres all in one week. WOW!

Next - rocker protection, tyre carrier and roof basket/cage.

:D

Dual Batteries done.
ARB Rack fitted yesterday at Suburban.
Tyres are on their way - 235/70R16 BFG ATs.

Mick took me for a drive in his 01 Xj with 4" OME lift, SYE and driveline mods - that is one excellent ride :D .

Now in talks with the chief financial officer about what I can go ahead with next - lift, snorkel, etc......

where will it end? oh, that's right - it never does!!

XJBlackie,

What length Tera Disco's have you got?

I assume they are the ones for the 2-4 inch lift.
I tried to figure out how to attach mine up with the parking pins (i still have these from the TJ) but the disco's are too short and don't reach the skid plate. I will take another look tonight - bought some elastic ties from a boat shop which should work if I don't get the parking pins in.

Willy,
I had USA4x4 fit the TJ storage pins for my Terra discos to the side of the front bash plate on my '99 XJ...they just drilled and tapped the holes and wound the pins in with a little loctite...works fine and I don't understand why it's not part of the XJ kit.
