I'm running American Racing long tube.... had them ceramic coated. The stock heat shields fit with a little bit of trimming. I don't think they are available any more, they likely priced themselves out of the market.

Cracked factory manifolds are very common and unfortunately seized studs are pretty much the norm. Makes a relatively simple job a PITA.

No matter what you run ( even stock ) the wiring looms are vulnerable..... get some aluminised Mylar tape ( good for 200C+, sold to seal heating ducts etc...... ) and wrap the affected looms.

Just checked their site. TJ 4.0 straight 6, and 9 versions of Cherokee only.

How much was the ceramic coating? And what difference, if any, can you feel with the long tube headers?

The ceramic coating was IIRC $300 + transport. Did it because of all the stories of cooked plastic which do seem to be from people who have not refitted the heat shields..... and so far so good ( 9000 km ).

Haven't had it back on the dyno after the install but they moved the "point of best economy" ( if you can use that phrase with a JK ) up by around 15KPH so they certainly changed something.

Got them free...... would I pay the telephone numbers American Racing wanted for them ( IIRC $1500USD and shipping and GST and... ) - NO.

Sorry about the bad pic...... camera decided everything needed a blue tinge.

So. I ordered the RIPP longtube headers, (with Diablosport i1000 tuner), their catback exhaust, some new delrin door hinge bushes, and a pair of 'automatic aluminium mirror movers'. Including shipping and conversion it is still cheaper than just the OEM Y pipe from FCA!

Adding GST on will bump it a bit over, but for the difference in what I'm getting...

Once I get them, I'll look at having them ceramic coated before I install them. I want to cool Satan's Sauna as much as I can!

Just checked Quadratec, The headers are drop shipped direct from RIPP, the rest come from their warehouse. The headers (with tuner) & exhaust are marked as shipped.

Alas, either the mirror movers or delrin bushes are on backorder, so those will be sent when they arive in stock.

Now let's see how long it takes to arrive. They should be ahead of the Christmas mail glut...

My boxes arrived today. Interestingly, the RIPP long tube headers are in a box marked as American Racing, albeit sealed up with RIPP tape! So I guess, yours are actually RIPP, after all!

It was supposed to come with the Diablosport Intune i1000, they must be out of those now, as I got an i2. Latest model seems to be the i3.

AFIK... RIPP don't make their own..... ( thank god, they'd look like they were made by a blind six year old ), probably explains why they disappeared from the American Racing WWW page.
