Default Camera Mounts for 4x4ing

Based on some queries to me about my mount I have started a thread to discuss the types of mounts and real life experiences with them, pros and cons etc.......

I have both a genuine panavise mount which cost me over $100 and also the Hong Knog rip off from ebay which cost me about $25 delivered. So far they are both doing what I sak of them and are capable of holding a JVC camcorder through rocky trails and creeks with minor movement.

http://www.panavise.com/index.html?p...eqskudatarq=74

http://cgi.ebay.com.au/Car-Window-Su...item2304a8047f

I will post up a close up pic of the mount on my window but below is the general placement of it external, best used with a lanyard incase of failure. Only time will tell with the quality of the products and the durabilty with offroad use but I cant see a difference yet between the two apart from price.

can you mount it inside the jeep or further in to the centre of the windscreen and how mud tight is the camera?
have seen some small camera's mounted inside the screen was one for sale at outdoor shop here a while back
neat idea and but the above is only my opinion and sorry to be so blunt

you can mount it anywhere the surface will allow a good clean suction, be it inside, outside, under the vehicle

I just choose to place it external and it survived a creek bed run very well. Camera is not waterproof by any means and I dont want to test it out either.

I use the same cheap suction mount from HK you have but with a panasonic waterproof/shockproof camera, so far so good but I also attach a lanyard just in case..
