Default Beach Access in Northern NSW

Gidday everybody,

Monday will see us heading off for a week's driving holiday in northern NSW, driving from Brisbane as far as we feel like going. We plan to do a bit of exploring on the way.

I was womdering what beaches allow 4WD access? Are there any good drives you would recommend? Do I need to get a permit for them??

Thanks in anticipation,

Mike

if you get down to Port Macquarie way, there are about 10 beaches you can access (mainly flat) with a permit from 'Hastings' Council. it cost me $21 dollars which lasts till the end of financial year. All you need is to take in the rego papers of the Jeep, they take a photocopy and give u a permit to stick on your window. They also give you maps and info on where to go and sand driving procedures etc.

I did it about a month ago and highly recommend it!!

Hi,

Yuraygir National Park (between Grafton and Coffs Harbour) has several camping spots at the National Park and you used to be able to drive on the beach at Minnie Waters / Sandon as well as some tracks off the beach.

Hi Mike,

We have a couple of beaches listed on www.4x4earth.com.au listed.

I was at the beach in Lennox Head a couple of weeks ago, but I left as the large storms were tearing away at the beach, so I am not too sure what it is like now.

James
