Default Before we sign on the dotted line...

Currently in the throes of a 'Jeep crash course' and trying to absorb as much info as possible before jumping onboard the speeding Jeep train.

Wondering what accessories to include in the deal and what should be bought later?
Vehicle will be a stock 2014 / MY2014, White Laredo 4x2 with towbar. Order will state genuine ParkView camera to be fitted.

Options:
Tinting
Weather shields
Bonnet protector
Headlight protectors ?
Cargo mat
Dash mat
Alloy Bullbar
Extended 2yr Jeep Australia warranty.
Others?

And before you say I forgot '4x4'.
Not having 4x4 goes against the grain I know and it's tempting to just say bugger it, but I just can't seem to justify the extra $8k and I'm thinking cheaper mtnce long term. Never utilised the avlb 4wd in our last vehicle so it'd be a waste. And as far as resale goes, well, I'll pay less to start with and figure not everyone wants 4x4 (like us). Jeep brought out the 4x2 for a reason. The Jeep should also have better resale than other brands for the same reason they're breaking sales records now.

Any advice on the above extras appreciated.

Welcome to AusJeepOffroad.

Package in a set of belts and hoses, as these things will immobilize you without suitable replacements, and may be hard to come by in a short period of time.

Don't worry about paint protection, it isn't worth it.

I'd also check out the moulded slush mats and the mudflaps. I don't think they do headlight protectors.

Don't count on the resale, I've just ordered my second one and was very disappointed in the resale and unfortunately I'm not isolated it's a "Jeep thing"!

No towbar? I'd get the tint done after, unless they are offering a good price on it.

Obviously you never plan on going off road of any type?
I'd hate to say it but with being only a 4x2 the resale value will be very small. If you're thinking about resale you have to consider what other people would buy. The 4x2 Laredo is the smallest selling Jeep segment. The $8k outlay would be easier to recover being a 4x4 on the 2nd hand market. I've already seen a 4x2 Laredo 2nd hand with low km's sell for $35k and it wasn't 12 months old.
By the "Park View" camera with the lines that turn with the steering wheel that is a factory fit to the Limited and above models. The Laredo doesn't have the necessary hardware or software available.
I'd also ask for a disc player as they don't come as standard.

Now it has been 8 months since I bought mine, but from memory there was a $1000 difference between 4x2 and 4x4 in the Laredo category, correct me if I'm wrong. Definitely make the choice that is right for you, but for the options it opens up, $1000 seems like good value to me.

I'm just reading a thread on jeep garage where an american owner bought a RWD GC and got bogged when he pulled off the shoulder onto a patch of dirt.....

You should be able to get the 4wd version within a few grand of the RWD, it might may off.
