I agree with MidnightMods, they all show surface rust so that's nothing to worry about. Have a good look underneath and look for dents and rocks caught up in the chassis to see if it's had a hard life off road. If not and it suits your needs go for it.

Mines a late 2011 as well. There is nothing wrong with the 3.8, it's not as powerful as the 3.6 but it's not as if you are going racing.

I tow a camper trailer with mine, you won't win races up hills but it's a reliable engine.

Flares are available on here all the time with people changing them out. There's a set on eBay right now with a start bid of $50

Before you replace the flares, give them a coat of tyre shine and see how they come up.

I use the cheap tyre shine spray from supercheap and they look like brand new when sprayed up. I just use it every 2-3 weeks or so when I give it a wash and it lasts between washes quite well.

I would never buy a used vehicle that had any type of "shudder" and especially an engine shudder.. and even more so a Jeep with an engine shudder .... it's a buyers market out there..
Unless it is very low kms and very cheap, keep looking for one that runs perfectly and has never been offroad.. there are lots out there.. don't rush into it.. shudders, thunks, knocks and noises are VERY expensive to diagnose if you are not mechanically minded

Awesome thanks guys. I've read that now a couple of times and you've confirmed it for me just a quick spray and they can look good as new

best way to rejuvenate the flares is with a hair dryer or heat gun. Just don't put too much heat into one spot and keep it moving.
