And the Jeep Grand Cherokee SRT8's 'Ring time is...
The Dodge Viper SRT10 ACR currently holds the unofficial production car record for a Nürburgring lap with a time of 7:12.13. The Porsche Panamera Turbo S is the first four-door to show up on the list of lap times with a 7:52.00.
The Audi RS6 Avant is the quickest wagon with a time of 8:09.00, and the first thing resembling a sport utility vehicle is the BMW X6 M at 8:24.00. That right there would be the target for a Jeep Grand Cherokee SRT8 were someone to bring one to Germany for a 'Ring run. Last September, somebody did.
Piloted by the eminently qualified Sabine Schmitz, the Jeep Grand Cherokee SRT8 did the deed in 8:49.00. Ouch. That's 25 seconds behind the X6 M and slower than even the front-wheel-drive Chevrolet HHR SS (8:43.52).
Still, you can't be taken seriously as a performance machine these days until you pay tribute at the Green Hell. And watching something attempt a high-speed 'Ring run that was originally designed to rock crawl is always fun. Scroll down to watch the official lap vid from SRT.
X6 M is 185K + on roads and SRT-8 is going rumored to be around 75- 80K + on roads
over 100K for 25 sec will be interesting to see what Maserati's tuning of the the SRT8 does ???
Crappy video angles doesn't really give you much perspective of speed and that belt rattling on the roll cage is just plain annoying wonder if it distracted the driver

Should have been driven by someone with balls!
The only distraction this driver had was her thinking what a mess her hair would be in when she took the helmet off.
Sorry if I sound sexist..........but having a set of balls sort of gives you inspiration to push a bit harder. Haha

If it is the same person I think it is she scared the C@#$ out of the top gear boys and owns an number of records at the ring, she has been driving it since she could see over the wheel dont think it has anything to do with ball, good track times come from smooth transition from corner to corner

Ah Christ, Goddam sympathisers.
Yes CJ any man riding shotgun in a powerful vehicle being driven fast by a female will suffer white knuckle affect.
Look all in jest. This is why I don't mind my wife 4 wheeling the Jeep we go slow enough that her thinking about shopping doesn't result in a high speed spin.
I wonder if that was on the production tyres that came with the car? A set of slicks or semi's would knock off 10+ sec easy.
Given the weight of the beast I think its actually done pretty well! Just think what it could do with some tuning and suspension tweaking - bolt on a Supercharger and there's another 15-20sec cut off the overall time!!
I guess its no real different given a stock showroom floor Viper VS SRT-10 ARC sepc model!!

Do you know of any Superchargers for the new Hemi 6.4L Stu? I know Bullet Superchargers do one for the 6.1L
The problem with the new hemi's they're putting in the Jeeps is that nobody has been able to crack the computers on em, so you are basically unable to tune them to run the charger. There are a LOT of people waiting for something to happen, coz at the moment even with just an exhaust and air filter the computer is just compensating and no extra power is being produced
