I haven't noticed this show on (probably just missed it). Anybody tuned in? What did you think?

I have a few of Pat's DVDs which sound identical to the show (driving a Kia etc). Not a bad show. Not really a "hardcore 4wd" show though, but that wouldn't appeal to the majority of mainstream TV watchers anyway.

I must say I have totally gone off 4wd TV these days. I used to like it but there's too much comp truck stuff for my liking (I find this kind of thing a bit boring) and there are so many shameless plugs for deer hunting magazines etc, which the presenter obviously has affiliations with.

I checked out Pat's website and it looks like the show on 11 Oct was just a preview. It starts up properly in Dec on One HD and then in Jan on channel 10.

It also looks like he will be driving a Nissan Patrol now instead of a Kia! Wonder why that changed all of a sudden? I didn't have any issue with him driving a Kia but I guess the show should have a bit more cred if he's in one of the more "established" touring wagons...

I am currently watching the new 4x4 show and I have to say, it's not bad at all. It strikes me as a getaway type of show but for our beloved 4wd's

It's good to see this sort of thing coming onto our tv's.

Is it just me or was that just one great big advert inter-despersed with some commericials !!! "My NISSAN PATROL is so great particually as it's fitted with an ARB bull bar & WARN winch. The FOXWING awning is so handy, particually as it attatch's to the OZTENT. The EZIDEFLATOR is so simple my kid can use it! How did we ever cook before we got the AUSPIT?".
Other than featuring a few great destinations I found it overall pretty tacky & with so much product placement the show has little credibility.
Like the 4x4 Aust mag, barely worth looking at.

I've always enjoyed the Pat Calligan (Mr Smooth) & Roothy (I'm not gonna say it) DVD's when they were together. Now they have gone their own ways, I still look forward to my Roothy DVD's (only reason I buy the mag) and now, at last we are seeing Pat with his great shows. Makes it worth having HD. I will be buying the full DVD set also. I tend to buy newspapers and mags about 30% for news and 70% for the adverts which are a kind of news anyway. I can live without the "Tiger" type so called news which is just commercial gossip.
