swapping older style inlet manifold for newer

hi

any advice accepted

i have a 1994 OBD1 xj cherokee

I've recently bought a later model "horseshoe" style manifold, after doing much reading

the new manifold came with injectors, and as my car has 400,000km on it i thought i would use the new style injectors, from "go-jeeps" site i see i need to remove the tabs on the new injectors etc and then cable tie the connectors

i also see that i need to replace the fuel pressure regulator ( remember OBD1)

and they are available. oh and use my fuel rail

is this it???

i have already had the head serviced and extractors and 2.5 inch system inc cat. converter.

please chime in if you have done this mod.

oh and I'm on top of the fan support issue, actually non issue for me as i have twin electric fans and have cut the mechanical fan boss off.

so I'm thinking bolt it up mod the injectors, use my original throttle body and replace the regulator what do yah reckon.

Just make sure you remove enough material from fan mount where the power steering pump currently locates, on back of that that top boss. so it does not conflict with the new manifold.
don't forget the washers to space out the powerstering pump like i did.

Doesn't the OBD2 injection system run at about 10-12 psi higher pressure???

If it is you might have to swap in OBD2 fuel rails, fuel tank (so as to accomodate new fuel module incorporating pump, filter, regulator and NO return connection) OR disable your current regulator and fit and plumb up a new external adjustable regulator (e.g. Holley)

or you can put in a fpr that runs at 40/49psi rather than 30/39.

Yep that's the plan rain man

I see Chinese ones on eBay and apparently hesco do make an adgustable one that mounts in the fuel rail like stock

I might try the Chinese one first and if it works ok great

I guess I'll need to get a fuel pressure gauge to check

I'm planning to use the original obd1 fuel rail

That's exactly what I just did. Installed 777 commo injectors on my OBDI XJ and replaced the OBDI FPR with a 49PSI FPR. I didn't get a Chinese one (trust issues), I got a USA made one shipped to my door for about $70AUD.
