Default swap running gear from xj 96 into xj 99

I currently have a 96 XJ that has done a lot of serious offroad driving, and is in need of a better body. The question is ,can I change out diffs, transfer, auto, and motor into a 99 XJ without major problems, so I can keep my lockers, gearing, Front and rear bars, rock sliders and 4.5 lift. Any help appreciated.

Should be only one issue can I see and that is if the 99 has coil packs as the loom will be different.

Regards A

Your 99 car needs to comply with 99 ADR's and emissions so the engine may not be possible.

Welcome nifty and happy new year
ADRs aside, the biggest pain would be wiring looms and ecu etc. While the number of sensors are likely the same, all the plugs will be different. Dash is different too as well as interior switches.

I would simply swap your diffs if need be, front bar and sliders (and any other engine bolt ons). Your rear bar may fit but would likely need some modification.

What's the condition of the 99? Km?

Diffs - yes easy.
Tcase - easy but you might need to modify the tailshaft length.
Auto - No it would be a pain to swap due to the wiring.
Engine - easy to swap the long block but leave the accessories of the 99 in the 99.
ADRs would not be a prob with that swap.
