Default Running Damaged Tyres

Let have a discussion about running damaged tyres on your Jeep.

1. Would you run a tyre with a damaged bead
2. Would you run a tyre with a tyre plug in the sidewall?
3. Would you run a tube in a tyre that is damaged?

Let's get some cold hard referenced facts if possible regarding legalities.

Personally I have run plugs in sidewalls previously. Not the ideal situation I will admit. I also have tyres on my trailer on Jeep rims which have tubes in them as the tyres had slow leaks in them.

You have to pay for the AS1973-1993 Tyre Repair Standard for Car Truck and Bus but I have paper copy if anyone would like me to scan it and post as a PDF. PM me...
Matt.

Best option to find out if you can put tubes in your tubeless tyres is contact the manufacturer. General rule of thumb if you use something for other then it was designed for you don't have a leg to stand on when shit hits the fan.

That being said looking at few of the manufacturers websites here is a few points i have found

*The fitment of tubes to tyres of 65 series and lower is not recommended.

*also a lot of them mention buffing inside of the tyre smooth and removing and labels as well as repairing any punctures before installing the tube.

Green Goblins tyre would have been classed as a minor repair as it wasn't penetrating damage in the bead area...just rubber damage. It could have been repaired or simply converted to a tube tyre and have "tubeless" removed from the sidewall.
