Default Front tow points - NZ/AU JK's

Ive done a bit of looking re this subject but as most forums etc for Jeeps are US i presume they dont face this oversight from Jeep.

Ive got an 08 Rubi 4 door and there's now tow points up front? I can see the tie down loop but damned if Im gonna use that for anything. Am I missing something or did we get jipped here in AU/NZ with the front bumper re design?

Theres an OK loop on the left rear chassis rail which will be cool for slow dragging. Also - I picked up a Rugged Ridge tow hitch but the reciever is a few mm too small - anyone else found this? (I know RR tolerances in production are a little skew so this is what Im putting it down to).

Cheers in advance.

I'm going through this at the moment, i have a aftermarket bullbar with massive loops but not to keen to put the bar through that, i've enquired at a few 4wd shops and they kinda just said we could make something but that means $$ and fobbed me off, haven't been to arb yet though, that factory ' recovery ' point is held on by 4 smallish bolts, not to sure of its shear strength because it came off during the bar install but i wouldn't use it... i'll be following this with intrest

I recently installed a set of the US hooks on my 14 JKUS to serve as an interim solution until I replace the front bumper with a Uneek bar. They are only rates to 5,500 lbs each, so I won't be snatching off of them, but at least I can use a levelling strap hooked to both for lighter recoveries.

Austac the "loops" on the front of your uneek bar are more than adequate to use for a snatch/winch off. If your a little nervous about snatching off them just use a bridle to equalise the force. That's what they are for.

I bought the US hooks but they require some drilling, so I never installed them (if anyone wants them for cheap let me know). I wouldn't trust the factory ring but resolved the issue by buying a steel bumper...

I seem to recall the front ring is rated as per the hooks.....which isn't great when theres only one. But you could probably pick one up for free and put it on the other side.....
Any of the aftermarket bars with Bow shackle points on them will bolt through where the factory recovery points go......I personally wouldn't be worried as I've seen what guys have swung off them during recoveries.
