at the moment- trying to separate the mould from the old bogged up R/H guard that I used for a plug.
its being a bit stubborn, so I am trying to be patient and carefull!! (not very easy for me)

L/H guard is bogged up and ready to be gelcoated etc, but I want to get the other one apart to see if I need to learn from any mistakes!

Remember when making moulds in fibreglass they need to be stronger and thicker than the guards you are making.

I am surprised at how tough the mould is!
I have only just got the old bogged up guard seperated from the mould!
yes, I did use releasing agent - and several coats of wax, but must have stuffed up somewhere. Wont happen with the next one!
What made it difficult was the bog somehow bonded the gelcoat of the mould, with the old guard. Everywhere there was bog(and there was lots of it)- it was stuck to the mould.
I ended up sliding plywood between the two, and cut the remains of the old guard so I could get vice grips in there- and gave it an almighty hoik, the old steel ripped out- leaving the bog behind!

I have (very carefully) chiselled out the remaining bog, now just need to get to it with wet and dry to clean it up and prep it for use.

The other old guard is ready to be used as a plug- but I will finish the r/h one first.

Guards are temporarily on the back burner- work is getting in the way, spending a lot of time driving trucks from Perth to minesites all over the state.

I have 2 x P.T.O's packed away in the shed somewhere- no idea what they are worth- or what freight would cost. (no idea how good they are either!)
Have been thinking about getting an overdrive from Herm, and the adaptor so I can still keep the P.T.O. as well.
I would like to use the P.T.O. to run something or other- but finding agricultural implements for CJ3B's is probably wishfull thinking!

If you dont mind waiting a bit- next time I fight my way into the shed I will dig one out, weigh and measure it and see what shipping cost are for you.

All the best,

Stephen.
