Default Jeep cherokee 06 serpentine belt removal

Hey guys,
I was trying to remove the serpentine today from my jeep cherokee 2006 2.8l but could not for the live of me find the belt tensioner bolt on the pully. Looking at the belt removal diagram there is a bolt next to the pully but I thought that might be for tensioner pully itself. Any help would be greatly appreciated!!!

Have you downloaded the service manual? It is explained there. Follow the link in the Sticky thread in the front section of this subforum (assuming that old link still works.)

So you have a belt diagram, good, but for those that don't, first thing, before you do anything, make a drawing of how the belt runs over all the pulleys to use as a reference.

Have look at this old thread on the subject ( post #2 specifically),

http://www.ausjeepoffroad.com/forum/...belt+tensioner

It explains the process and direction of rotation to release the tensioner.

Some tensioners have an Allen key and some a socket so you'll need to take a look first up to see what you need. If it's a socket then do what Glen said. Mine is an Allen key so I use a small piece of pipe over the Allen key to get some leverage and do it that way. It can be a bastard to get the new one on by yourself but doable.
