I was in a similar position 6 years ago, although I had owned 4WD's before the JK was my first decent one, I started by replacing stock tyres with BFG AT's, then ARB front bar followed by a lift, I'm still modding it now and don't think it will ever be finnished but I'm still surprised where it will go with a simple lift, swaybar disconects and a set of 285/75/16 BFG KM2's, I have never been in a position where I needed lockers to get me through, and have done a lot of off road driving including Wonangatta valley and other areas in Vic high country, Flinders ranges and stockton beach, and 3 jeep jambos, only you know if you need lockers for the sort of driving you do, but personally I would not be fitting them now, get the jeep and use it to see what you need but I think you could get more benefit from thing's already mentioned, lift, tyres, uhf recovery gear etc. Also consider joining a local club and doing some driver training before you rush out and spend money, as stated if you want larger tyres later on you WILL need to change diff ratio's and that will probably meen different diff centres, so more money on new locker's. I hope this help's and keep asking questions.
