Default Driving Holiday - From Canberra

So, I may be opening the old Pandora's box here, but can anyone recommend a good driving holiday of around 10 days from Canberra? My wife and I were due to go to Bali shortly but as she is pregnant, the Doctors aren't too keen on it. So we thought we might take the Jeep out and stretch its legs!

I really don't know where to start though. We'll probably need to stay in reasonable motel accom as opposed to camping due to her ever-growing size, a nd we'll be on our own, so not too keen on tracks so rough we might get stuck, but still looking for some adventure and a good time. Anyone got any ideas? Thought we could drive up to QLD and check out Fraser as one idea.

Take a trip to the red centre. tourist season hasn't quite started out here yet, but everyone is gearing up for the influx of people through the cooler months. temps are in the 39-42 range but it's comfortable/warm in the evenings.

We've had a stack of rain in recent times, so the countryside looks more like the "green centre" at the moment, I've been here 10 years and never seen it this green.

three days of comfortable drive if you go slow. CBR to Mildura, Mildura to Coober Pedy, Coober to the Rock/Kings Canyon/Olgas/ Alice/etc. Might be a bit of a quick trip, as it takes years to see everything this place has to offer, but covers the main tourist areas

Love all the ideas guys. You know, we have never once considered heading to the red centre and that could be the go. We could do the blue mountains on the way home. We're going to have a chat about it this weekend. I suspect I'll put a blindfold on and the wife will spin me around and wherever I stop, we'll head that way.... after I take the blindfold off!

How original!

We settled on Byron Bay. We'll be up that way for about a week or so. Anyone have any good ideas on easy or intermediate tracks or nice day trips up that way?
