Default New Squeek, old JK

Hi Guys & Gals,

My 2015 JK has developed a squeak that sounds like it's within the dash on the passenger side (left).

I've taken the entire left hand dash off trying to track it down.
I've already read an awful lot of posts suggesting this or that bolt/screw/strap/pipe within the engine bay.

To me it sounds like the squeak you get when you flex a hard plastic on plastic but in the recorded video it sounds more like tapping.

https://drive.google.com/file/d/1J6V...ew?usp=sharing

Sound doesn't occur when not moving.
Happens going forwards or backwards as little as 5kmph.
Doesn't occur when manually rocking the car.
Cannot be replicated by push/pulling on the dash pieces.
Unrelated to having cooling/heating on.

Any ideas or advice would be appreciated.

Cheers

First thing I'd check are the 2 bolts on each side at the top of the A pillar. They are known for coming loose allowing a bit of movement & squeaks that can sound like they are anywhere in the windscreen/dash area. (They are the bolts you remove to drop the windscreen down onto the bonnet.)

I had this issue in my '08. (I got it 2nd hand ~2 years old.) When I checked the bolts, they were lose & one was completely missing! (Later found it when I was working under the dash & had it partly disassembled...)

Hmmm...

I found a missing bolt.

I've got two bolts on the horizontal bar above the windscreen (surrounding the sunvisor mount).

I've got one bolt on the A-pillar itself up close to the top.

Then I've got one hole where a bolt should be below that.

Does anyone know what that bolt should be? Width/depth/thread?

Thanks!

Ignore that!

The missing bolt is in fact just one of those little plastic screws into a ring. I don't think they offer much in the way of structural support.
