I've had it run at 140AMP as a test on 8mm plate but I've been running it at around 100AMP today on 4mm and 6mm plate with 3.2mm rods. The main thing here is it'll run at 140AMP all day without stopping to cool down so 100AMP it has nop problem with at all.

Cheers
Steve

why i chose the 170 over the 130 is to do with duty cycles

hey guys, after doing even more researech i have found out that the 170 amp cigweld even though its single phase, needs a 15A powerpoint, which is more than standard i believe, so im thinking that although its really portable and light, yet not much good if you cant power it. perhaps will be looking at the 130amp which is standard 10A.

correct
a130 will weld the same size rods 3.25 as a 170
with the correct weld prep and settings you could 25mm plate
